Nigella

Bichon Frisé · Female · Adult · 4 years

10-05-26 Nigella has come to us from a breeder and is now searching for her forever home. She is a very sweet girl who is understandably feeling a little overwhelmed by the changes around her, but despite this she can often be seen with a waggy little tail, which is lovely to see. Nigella isn’t quite brave enough to approach for fuss just yet, but she is very curious about the world around her and enjoys quietly watching what is going on. We feel that in a calm home environment her confidence will continue to grow and she will really begin to thrive. She will be looking for a calm and quiet home where she can settle at her own pace. We would consider homing her with dog savvy, gentle teenagers who can understand that she may need time and space as she learns to trust. Nigella absolutely loves other dogs and gains great comfort from them, so she will need another kind and confident resident dog in her new home to show her the ropes and help her feel safe. As Nigella has never lived in a home before, she will need patient adopters who are ready to help her learn everything about home life, including house training and learning to walk on a lead and harness. With time, kindness and reassurance, Nigella will begin to come out of her shell and blossom into the most wonderful friend. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Nigella

What life with Nigella looks like

Nigella is a adult bichon frisé dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nigella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nigella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nigella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nigella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nigella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nigella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nigella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
