Nika

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Meet Nik, this lovely, about 2 years old, friendly little girl dog found in Pilisvörösvárák. Nika strolled into a shelter where many cats lived – she immediately behaved friendly towards them, so we can safely say she is cat-compatible! Since then, of course, she has received all necessary care: she is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, waiting for her new family. Unfortunately, the lab tests revealed that she has heart disease, but we have already started her medical treatment, and thankfully she is reacting well to it. The treatment must continue with her new owner – we will provide every help and guidance in this regard. Nika is a very kind, friendly, cuddly little soul, loving everyone, and quickly bonds. She is a perfect family dog, naturally easy-going, suitable for families with children, adults, and even cats. All Nik asks for is a loving family that stands by her through the end of her treatment and beyond. More photos of Nika: Would you like a grateful, cuddly, special companion? Nika is waiting for you!

About Nika

What life with Nika looks like

Nika is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ürömi Állatotthon in Hungary.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ürömi Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ürömi Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Nika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ürömi Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
