Nike, the precious gemstone of a Malinois, arrived to the shelter after being found on forest roads together with a little Bodeguero girl. How they got they, wondered all of us, until we found out the story through the destiny of the little Bodeguero girl India. They came from the same location, even though India had been handed from person to person before they were found. Noone ever came looking or showing concern for Nike, so she stayed with us, and we adore her to the moon & back, she is perfection. Nike is a beautiful petite, compact Malinois girl, with a wonderful character. She is helping the shelter’s team with dog socialisations, and very quickly accepts new dogs into her group, male or female, small or big. Her best friend is little Schmusi, who will be adopted soon, and also Nike is looking for her forever home. She is still very young, playful and goofy, she will make you smile and she will make you a proud dog parent. When Nike is in her comfortable environment - whether in a setting that she knows (like the shelter), or with her dog team or with the humans she trusts (like the caretakers), then Nike is very easygoing, relaxed, open, social, friendly - just great. When she is in a new environment, without any of her known parts of life (her human, dog friends, or known surroundings), then she will be a bit insecure, and be also a bit cautious with other dogs. In Nike’s case it is important to first allow her to slowly “arrive” to her new home and build a trusting connection with her human - once the trust is built (and snacks help here a bit), then she will be by your side and ready for adventures! She just needs a constant point in her life - whether it’s the home, human, or her dog friends - or all the above! Nike walks wonderfully on the leash, and she is so ready to learn. She is definitely looking for a human who is interested in some form of dog sports, agility, canicross, basic obedience or even tricks training. Nike is not a demanding Malinois, like working line Malinois are, she is a much softer girl than many people would imagine a Malinois to be. Nike has also been out walking with families with children very well. In best case scenario, she wouldl like to join a household with a soft, social and playful, but not over-whelming dog already present, but she could also be a single dog and work a lot more closely with her human together, in which case we would wish for regular canine contact so she continues to be well-socialised with other dogs. Her shoulder height is 53cm.
