Niko-5

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 2 months

A delightful family of four dogs - Niko and his three brothers Neelix, Niccolo, and Nilas - along with their enchanting mother Nelda, arrived in Kecskemét from the town of Orgovany on June 15, 2026. Their past, origins, and reasons for becoming homeless remain a mystery. They were not microchipped and were not reported missing. The small family is now safe and we hope they will only be a short stop before finding their forever homes. Nelda is a caring, patient, and loving mother to her little ones. They are lucky to grow up by her side. The puppies thrive and keep an eye out for their humans so that when they're ready to travel, they can go to their new homes soon. Neldas puppies will be ready to discover the big wide world soon. They are very loving, nice, playful, agile, curious, people-oriented, but sometimes shy and reserved in new situations, which is understandable and normal. They are little gems that still need to be lovingly shaped so they can develop into great companions. Still green behind the ears, of course, everything must be taught step by step with love. They live together in a kennel and love to romp, play, and explore their limited surroundings, each day a bit more. We are looking for nice and loving people who will accompany our dear little gang on their further life's journey and offer them a stable environment. Adventurous dog friends who know what it means and implies to adopt a young dog and the responsibility they take over for a long time. Puppy/dog school, full family connection, many cuddles, exciting and varied walks, age-appropriate exercise, play, fun, enough rest, and the sweet rackers can enjoy their new life happily, carefree, loved, and hopefully for a very long time. A wonderful quartet is soon ready for any adventure! Currently, they are all too young for castration, which must be done by their new owners when they are old enough. Estimated adult size of 38-48cm and weight of 10-17kg. On July 2, 2026, Niko is 20cm and 2.2kg. The brothers can travel from around the beginning of September 2026 when they have found a home or foster family.

About Niko-5

What life with Niko-5 looks like

Niko-5 is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Niko-5, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Niko-5?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Niko-5 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Niko-5 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Niko-5 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Niko-5 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Niko-5 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
