Nilea

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! As soon as you look into her warm eyes, you can feel: Nilea is a particularly gentle and sensitive canine soul. The pretty mixed-breed female dog is about 4.5 years old and measures around 50 cm. Whether she ever had a real home, we don't know – she probably spent her previous life on the streets of Romania. But what we do know for sure: Nilea is a quiet, very sensitive female dog who needs love, security, and safety to finally find her place. A small special feature: Nilea has a shortened tail. This, however, does not restrict her in any way. Nilea is cautious around people and retreats if someone moves too quickly. But she is neither aggressive nor defensive – she doesn't snap, but simply retreats. If you take your time, sit quietly next to her, and meet her with patience, her curiosity will show. Then she approaches cautiously and even takes treats from your hand and allows herself to be touched. For Nilea, we would like to see a quiet rural home with empathetic people, preferably an older couple who have understanding and patience and can give her the time she needs. Sensitive dogs like her need people who don't give up if everything doesn't work out immediately but instead accompany her step by step. With love, empathy, and patience, Nilea will learn to trust and open her heart. Would you give Nilea the chance at a better life? Even a foster home would be a rescue for her. Nilea is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, neutered, and of course has an EU pet passport. This animal has a history of biting.

About Nilea

What life with Nilea looks like

Nilea is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nilea, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nilea?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nilea on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nilea if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nilea already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nilea isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nilea and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
