Adopt Noelle & Koleda

Female · Young · 1 year

Normally, you don't often see two foster rabbits placed together at our shelter. Experience has shown that this can be problematic in the long run and there is a chance that it may ultimately fail. Sisters Noelle and Koleda have made us doubt. Dates with male companions caused a lot of stress for the sisters. Their recovery afterwards took relatively a lot of time. What was noticeable, however, was that despite all the changes, they always sought support from each other and found each other again. Therefore, we would like to give Noelle and Koleda the opportunity to potentially find a new home together, and we grant them a place with more space, peace, and freedom than we can currently offer them, so that they can truly be rabbits. At the moment, the young ladies get along well, provided they have enough space. They are active foster rabbits who sometimes need to avoid each other for a while. In too small of a living space or when they are confined in a hutch, tensions can quickly arise. We do feel it is important to be honest that no one can predict how their bond will develop in the long term. Changes in environment, territory, or hormones can cause the dynamics to change. Therefore, we are looking for an owner who understands this, who is willing to continue observing their behavior closely, and who is ready to think about it if necessary. Of course, we will also gladly remain involved for tips, advice, and guidance. We will continue to carefully observe their behavior in the meantime. Because even though things are going well now, the situation between two foster rabbits can always change. It is therefore possible that we may have to decide to separate the sisters again if it becomes clear that continuing together is no longer appropriate. As long as they have enough space, they are currently getting along well, and we grant them the chance to see where this might go. Born on: 24-12-2025, spayed: No, Weight: Almost 2kg, but their mother was a large rabbit of 3.5kg.

About Noelle & Koleda

What life with Noelle & Koleda looks like

Noelle & Koleda is a small young adult rabbit waiting at Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden in Leiden.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Noelle & Koleda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Noelle & Koleda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Noelle & Koleda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Noelle & Koleda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Noelle & Koleda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Noelle & Koleda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Noelle & Koleda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
