Noki

Male · Adult · 7 years

Noki is a young male whose origins may trace back to the western Siberian Laika. We can see from his behavior that he is confused by the shelter's reality. We hope someone will take him away soon! 😊 Our charge is quite tense, but he knows how to walk nicely on a leash. He is curious about his surroundings and sniffs a lot, but he doesn't lose his alertness and seems to be looking out for possible dangers around the corner. Future caregivers will need to work on his relationships with other dogs, as he barks at some of them and can attack those bigger than himself. 😖 Fortunately, he has found some canine friends with whom he walks side by side. Noki has shown that in calmer circumstances, he is interested in people and seeks contact with them. In his kennel, he asks for pats and although only for a moment, attention from volunteers. However, it should be noted that in stressful situations, unfortunately, he sometimes directs his fear towards a person❗️ The future caregiver must be prepared for this and know how to handle it❗️ For Nokie we are looking for people with experience with primitive breeds, who are open to training the dog using positive methods. Noki is not suitable for a home with small children or small animals.

PL·Show original

Mamy nadzieję, że szybko ktoś go stąd zabierze!

About Noki

What life with Noki looks like

Noki is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Fear-based aggression towards humans in stressful situations, requires experienced handler with primitive breed knowledge

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Noki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Noki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Noki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Noki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Noki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Noki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Noki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
