Nolan

Male · Adult · 5 years

Long dreadlocks, with which Nolan came to the animal shelter and mistrust of strangers are evidence that in the short life of Nolan, it was not always colorful, and people were not always trustworthy. Upon closer acquaintance, you can see what a joyful, warm and playful dog he is, which makes us sad that his former owner did not appreciate him at all, instead neglecting and hurting him. The name Nolan is no coincidence, as it means warrior, but also a sociable person who likes to have fun, perfectly describing and fitting our foster. Nolan is wonderful on walks, he sniffs a lot, walks very nicely on a leash, does not pull at all, is not afraid of passing cars or buses. He likes to run and play happily, encourages play and is eager to play with people. In the kennel or on a walk, he is a real cuddle bug, never missing an opportunity to climb onto knees, snuggle and nuzzle. Dogs on walks are usually ignored, unless he is provoked, then he barks back. Definitely, improving his relationship with dogs is an area for further work after adoption. We don't know Nolan's relationship with other pets, including cats. Nolan is an amazing well-behaved, friendly and social dog, but also a dog who sets clear boundaries. At the beginning of his stay at the animal shelter, he was very mistrustful, afraid of sudden movements, does not like bending down, prolonged handling near him, or putting on a harness. When he is scared, he shows his teeth. He strongly dislikes veterinary procedures, must be handled in a harness, which he currently puts on without problems. For Nolan, we are looking for an experienced family working with a dog from a rescue and open to such work, also under the supervision of a behaviorist; a stable, patient family that gives the dog space, able to read dog signals, not afraid of dogs. Nolan needs predictability, safety and support from the caregiver, so we are looking for a quiet home, with a routine and a stabilized lifestyle, where there are rarely guests, a home without children. NOLAN IS NOT SUITABLE FOR INEXPERIENCED PEOPLE AND FOR A FIRST FAMILY DOG. We encourage you to visit and follow our group on Instagram: More videos can be found on our YouTube channel:

PL·Show original

Nolan potrzebuje przewidywalności, bezpieczeństwa i wsparcia ze strony opiekuna, dlatego szukamy mu domu spokojnego, z wypracowaną rutyną i z ustabilizowanym trybem życia, w którym rzadko bywają goście, domu bez dzieci. NOLAN NIE NADAJE SIĘ DLA OSÓB NIEDOŚWIADCZONYCH I NA PIERWSZEGO PSA RODZINNEGO. About Nolan

What life with Nolan looks like

Nolan is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires experienced owner, behavioral work needed, fearful of sudden movements, needs muzzle for vet visits

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nolan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nolan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nolan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nolan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nolan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nolan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nolan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
