Noontje

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

* For more information, please read “Why We Are Cautious About Placing Our Dogs with Families Having Young Children.” Character: Noontje is a sweet, playful, and intelligent puppy with a gentle temperament. With her trusted human, she is cheerful, cuddly, and thoroughly enjoys attention. She will need to learn to trust the rest of the world gradually, with patience and proper guidance. Behavior at Home: This sweet puppy is a delightfully cuddly and curious girl who is quickly feeling more and more at home in the house. She still sleeps a lot, as any puppy should, but she loves playing and cuddling just as much. When her humans come home or appear downstairs in the morning, she greets them enthusiastically. She is very people-oriented and especially bonds with one or two trusted individuals. With these people, she likes to stay close and loves to snuggle comfortably on their lap. Despite her affectionate nature, she is not demanding. She can also entertain herself perfectly well with her toys. At home, she behaves calmly. She doesn’t destroy anything and adapts well to staying in her crate. Staying home alone is also being introduced gradually and is going surprisingly smoothly already. During her humans’ absence, she sleeps peacefully.

About Noontje

What life with Noontje looks like

Noontje is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Straydogs Rescue Nederland in RC Nieuwe Pekela.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Noontje, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Noontje?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Straydogs Rescue Nederland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Noontje on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Noontje if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Straydogs Rescue Nederland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Noontje already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Noontje isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Straydogs Rescue Nederland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Noontje and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
