Nora

Female · Senior · 13 years

**Nora is in a crate.** **!!!URGENT ADOPTION!!!** We don't know Nora's past and can only guess that such a beautiful shepherd is the "perfect" guard dog for a property. Unfortunately, the female dog has aged, and problems with her spine and legs have appeared, so she became unnecessary. And thus she ended up in old age behind bars. We don't know, but how many such stories are there already and Nora shows characteristics of a dog kept in a kennel run, so maybe that's exactly how it was. Nora has not learned to build relationships with other dogs. Today, she barks loudly at every passing dog, it never occurs to her to get to know them, play together... She never had the chance to experience how great it is to have a dog friend. Fortunately, at least in relation to people, Nora is very open, gladly accepts pats, goes for walks. This relationship makes her happy, perhaps she longed all her life to spend more time with a person, to live with them in a house and not just next to their house... It's clearly visible that years of neglect have affected her back legs and the orthopedist unfortunately confirmed advanced spinal dysfunction. Of course, we will follow the doctor's recommendations to improve her comfort and give her a pain-free life, but shelter conditions, especially the annoying cold and dampness in winter, do not help... Nora is still full of energy and, for her age and spinal problems, is quite active, unfortunately, however, her legs are becoming weaker more and more and they can't keep up with her desires. Maybe this will work for her in old age? A good home, a good person? Maybe at least in old age she won't be alone anymore... Looking for a home without other dogs. Receives medication for thyroid, joint supplement. **foundation Przyjaciele Palucha will financially support the treatment of Nora after adoption.**

? Szuka domu bez innych psów. Dostaje lek na tarczycę, suplement na stawy. **Fundacja Przyjaciele Palucha wesprze finansowo leczenie Nory po adopcji.** Dominika 512647947 Anna 501175692 Monika 667473808

About Nora

What life with Nora looks like

Nora is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Advanced spinal dysfunction, thyroid medication, joint supplements, mobility issues with hind legs

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
