Country of Origin: Hungary Norina, the beautiful dog, arrived on June 5, 2024, with her puppy Benu, from poor husbandry conditions at Menhely. They come from the city of Orgovany. As seen in the entrance photos of Norina, she had a large rope with a big carabiner around her neck and was much too thin. Fortunately, mother and son escaped this hell. Norina now waits "behind bars" for her people who will show her the sunny sides of life; she has more than earned it! Despite her sad past as a chained dog, Norina has kept her wonderful personality. She is very attached to humans and clings to them, always seeking the company of shelter staff. At first, she is a bit shy around strangers until she realizes that they mean her no harm. It’s likely that not all the people in her previous life were well-intentioned, and she had to make some unpleasant experiences. But it’s wonderful that she still has faith in people when she realizes that they have no ill intentions towards her. Norina is happy when the shelter staff give her some time and attention, and she gratefully accepts this and doesn’t want to miss out on it. Norina can already walk on a leash, but she should still be taught a few things from the dog ABCs lovingly. Norina is looking forward to exploring the world outside the shelter with her new people. Norina wants to live on the land, and a garden is a must. She definitely does not belong in the city. She gets along well with her fellow animals and currently (September 16, 2025) lives in a kennel with Helmut. So far, she has not shown any territorial behavior at the animal shelter, but this could change in her new home. For our wonderful Norina, we are looking for lovers and enthusiasts of herding dogs who can understand her, provide her with age-appropriate mental stimulation, tasks, and challenges, ensure her full family integration, pamper her with fine food, lots of cuddles, a cozy dog bed, and give her a worry-free and happy life where she is loved, respected, and cared for. A mentor took her on a walk. Norina is a very loving and friendly dog. Despite all the bad things that have happened to her, she trusts and loves humans. It was probably her first walk, so she was unsure but also curious and interested. She knows and feels that only good things will happen to her now. She enjoyed being with and with us, she is a human-oriented, young, and well-socialized dog. Her file states that she is accustomed to other dogs. Norina is waiting for a new owner who will take her to a safe, permanent home as part of the family. With patience, guided training, and endless love, she is worth being led and shown how a happy owner’s life looks. A larger garden would be great, and she needs a lot of exercise and regular walks. She doesn’t want to live on a chain or in a pen again. Good luck, dear Norina!" A voluntary Hungarian helper wrote on April 29, 2025: "Norina was taken in at the animal shelter with her puppy Benu in June 2024. She participated in the mentoring program multiple times. Her mentors took Norina on a walk. Norina walks nicely on a leash, is curious, and attentive. When she saw another dog or cat on the way, Norina stopped to observe. She didn’t growl or bark, she just continued walking nicely. During such walks, there is a lot of new things to discover. She enjoyed the outing, she could sniff and move around as she wanted. She accepted the cuddles and pampering gratefully. She always has a dog companion who lives in the same pen. This time, she went for a walk with her pen companion." A voluntary Hungarian helper wrote on December 24, 2025: "Norina came to the shelter’s care in June 2024 with her puppy. She was very thin and was seized. Today, Norina is doing well. By her first year, she had to make many bad experiences. Despite this, she has kept her trust and her love for humans. We got to know Norina at the mentor play area, and her mentors are allowed to take her for walks on Saturdays. These walks are very important and necessary for Norina. Ursprungsland: Ungarn Die wunderschöne Norina kam am 5.6.2024 zusammen mit ihrem Welpen Benu aus schlechter Haltung ins Menhely. Sie stammen aus der Stadt Orgovány. Wie man bei Norina auf den Eingangsfotos sieht, hing ihr ein Seil mit einem grossen Karabiner um den Hals, und sie war viel zu dünn. Zum Glück konnten Mutter und Sohn dieser Hölle entkommen. Norina wartet nun «hinter Gittern» auf ihre Menschen, die ihr die Sonnenseiten des Lebens zeigen, sie hat es mehr als verdient. Trotz ihrer traurigen Vergangenheit als Kettenhund hat Norina ihren tollen Charakter bewahrt. Sie ist dem Menschen sehr zugetan und anhänglich und sucht immer die Nähe der Tierheimmitarbeiter. Bei fremden Personen ist sie am Anfang etwas schüchtern, bis sie merkt, dass man es gut mit ihr meint. Bestimmt waren ihr in ihrem bisherigen Leben nicht alle Menschen wohlgesonnen, und sie musste ihre unschönen Erfahrungen machen. Umso schöner, dass sie den Glauben an die Menschen nicht verloren hat, sobald sie merkt, dass man ihr nichts Böses will. Norina freut sich, wenn die Tierheimmitarbeiter ihr etwas Zeit und Aufmerksamkeit schenken, das nimmt sie dankbar an und möchte es nie mehr missen. Norina kann schon an der Leine laufen, ansonsten sollte sie noch ein paar Sachen aus dem Hunde-ABC liebevoll beigebracht bekommen. Sie freut sich darauf, mit ihren neuen Menschen die Welt ausserhalb des Tierheims zu entdecken. Norina möchte auf dem Land leben, und ein Garten ist ein Muss, in die Stadt gehört sie definitiv nicht. Mit ihren Artgenossen versteht sie sich gut und lebt aktuell (16.09.2025) mit Helmut in einem Kennel. Norina zeigt sich nicht territorial, auch wenn die Anlage als Herdenschutzhund in ihr steckt. Update vom 25.07.2026: Seit Juni 2024 lebt Norina im Tierheim, und obwohl sie schon in ihrem ersten Lebensjahr viel Schlimmes erfahren musste, hat sie ihr Vertrauen und ihre Liebe zu den Menschen bewahrt. An den Mentortagen dürfen ihre Mentoren sie jeweils am Samstagvormittag zum Spazieren mitnehmen, und diese Ausflüge sind für Norina sehr wichtig. Sie ist eine liebe, freundliche und stark menschenbezogene Hündin mit einem eher ruhigen Wesen, bei den Mentoren ist sie sehr beliebt und mit allen gut befreundet, unterwegs getroffene Mentoren begrüsst sie freudig. Norina ist einfach zu spazieren, sie läuft schön an der Leine und schnüffelt unterwegs ausgiebig, denn draussen warten viele spannende Eindrücke und neue Gerüche. Begegnet ihr ein anderer Hund oder eine Katze, bleibt sie ruhig stehen und beobachtet, ohne zu knurren oder zu bellen, und geht dann gelassen weiter. Streicheleinheiten und Verwöhnmomente geniesst sie sehr und ist in diesen Augenblicken sichtlich dankbar und glücklich. Norina ist reisefertig.
