Norte

Belgian Malinois · Male · Young · 2 years

Norte - young Malinois is looking for people with heart, mind and experience. Norte is about two years old - an age when physical strength, enthusiasm for learning and willingness to bond meet. However, little of this potential remains in the animal shelter. Instead of meaningful tasks, bonding and exercise, he experiences mainly limitations and waiting. Norte is a Malinois and thus a member of a breed that expects a lot from its people. Malinois want to work, explore, please, challenge and be challenged. They react finely to their people, learn quickly, observe precisely and need structures that channel all of this into ordered paths. With Norte, this breed-specific combination is clearly visible: He is alert, attentive, highly motivated and wants to please. At the same time, he seeks support. Because a dog like him needs security through clear, fair rules, mental tasks, physical exertion and the reliability of someone who leads confidently. Norte is not a beginner's dog. A dog with his abilities would quickly become overwhelmed, under-stimulated or lost without a suitable framework. Therefore, we are looking for people with experience in dealing with active, sensitive and strong-willed dogs - ideally breed experienced or willing to reflect and inform themselves about the needs of the Malinois. We don't know anything about Norte's background. Therefore, interested parties should assume that he still has a lot to learn: everyday life, impulse control, calmness, routines, leash training, orientation... all of this needs to be discovered and possibly learned. Leishmaniosis was detected in Norte. More information about this can be found here. Whoever gives Norte a chance for a new start - whether as a foster home or permanent home - consciously chooses responsibility. For a dog who takes his people seriously. For a partner who wants to grow. Norte is waiting. For tasks, for leadership, for closeness and for people who understand what a special dog is hidden in this young male dog. If you are aware of what comes with adopting a shelter dog, and you have fallen in love with the rescue dog, please contact the responsible mediator of SALVA Dog Help. We would also be very grateful for the provision of a foster home! Here is Norte's video Here is Video 2

Norte wartet.

About Norte

What life with Norte looks like

Norte is a young adult belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Norte, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Norte?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Norte on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Norte if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Norte already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Norte isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Norte and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
