Nova

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

NOVA—a new star searching for its home❣️ I’m NOVA—a name that means “new star.” It fits me perfectly, because despite everything I’ve been through, I’m still trying to shine. Not loudly, not dazzlingly, but quietly, warmly, and steadily—just like the older stars that have seen so much already. One morning, around eight o'clock, I stood by the roadside—alone, abandoned, on my way to the Help Labus animal shelter. I didn’t know where to go. All I knew was that I had to wait until someone noticed me. And there I stood—a senior dog who couldn’t understand why her life had suddenly become so quiet. Now I’m safe at the shelter. I’m chipped, so they know I come from a remote village called Mastacani. Yet no one has asked about me. No one has missed me. Here, I get food, affection, and a place to rest. And although my heart carries a few cracks, I’m trying to rebuild trust once again. I’m calm, gentle, and grateful for every kind gesture. My gaze is a bit weary, but it still holds warmth—and hope. Because even a star that’s seen many nights can shine brightly once more. Sometimes I think maybe I’m a little super-NOVA—not because I explode loudly, but because, despite everything that’s happened to me, I want to shine even brighter again—for someone who sees me. For someone who holds me close. For someone who shows me that my life still matters. I wish for a home where I can spend the final chapter of my life—with people who understand older dogs, who lead a peaceful everyday life, maybe in a house with a garden, maybe on a terrace where I can lie down and watch the world go by. I’m a quiet companion who doesn’t ask for much—just a place where I can finally arrive, a place where I’ll no longer be left out in the cold, but can stay forever. I’m NOVA—and I hope my light can shine for someone once more.

About Nova

What life with Nova looks like

Nova is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. in Waakirchen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nova, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nova?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nova on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nova if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nova already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nova isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Fellnasen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nova and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
