Nuckles

Unknown · Young · 3 years

Nuckles was dropped off with us because he no longer gets along with his sister and has lived alone for a long time. The pretty little goat doesn't like to be cramped, and so far he has been very submissive towards other animals. However, this could change after a period of getting used to his new environment, as he hasn't had any contact with other animals for several years and needs to relearn the rabbit language. In his new home, he should already have a large enclosure or rabbit room waiting for him. Ideally, a nice fellow animal would already be waiting for him, or alternatively, if available, he could move out with a suitable female companion from our shelter. An introduction can only begin when the nighttime temperatures are stable enough. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

DE·Show original

About Nuckles

What life with Nuckles looks like

Nuckles is a large young adult rabbit waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nuckles, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nuckles?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nuckles on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nuckles if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nuckles already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nuckles isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nuckles and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
