Nutmeg

Female · Young · 2 years

Lovely nutmeg has the sweetest heart. She is a gentle and calm lady who enjoys sniffing around and exploring new environments. She likes to meet new human and doggy friends on her walks. Nutmeg enjoys all the comforts of a home and will sleep on her cosy beds after a long day of adventures. Nutmeg does like the sound of her own voice at times! If you're looking to open your home to a sweet and gentle dog, Nutmeg could be your pawfect match! Nutmeg is searching for her forever home with adopters who can give her all of the love this sweet-natured girl deserves and take her on new adventures! She adores her sniffy walks and exploring new places. She is a super friendly dog that could live with older primary aged children and can have visitors in the home once she has had some time to adjust to living in her new home. As she is making herself at home and settling in, she would like to have minimal leave hours, which can gradually be built up to 2-4 hours. Nutmeg can live with a well-matched dog in the home, pending meets at the centre, but she would happily be the only dog. She would not like to live with cats or birds, but could live with crated furries that can be kept separate. She would love to have a garden to enjoy when she's not out on her walks.

About Nutmeg

What life with Nutmeg looks like

Nutmeg is a young adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Harefield in Harefield.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nutmeg, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nutmeg?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Harefield handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nutmeg on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nutmeg if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Harefield will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nutmeg already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nutmeg isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Harefield early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nutmeg and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
