Nuts

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 15 years

Can live with: Sensible Older Children 15yrs+ Nut is a 1½-year-old little lad who came to us from a multi-cat household. He was very shy for the first few days while settling into the cattery, but after a couple of weeks of time, patience, and TLC, he has really come out of his shell and shown us what a sweet boy he truly is. Nut would thrive in a calm home where he can continue to build his confidence and enjoy all the love and reassurance he deserves. While he may seem a little shy at first, he’s really not a tough Nut to crack when given the right environment and a little patience. 🥜 He would prefer to be the only pet in the household, but could happily live with sensible secondary school aged children who understand he may need a little time and space to settle in. Can you offer this sweet little lad the loving forever home he’s been waiting for? Scroll through the gallery of images above or click to open

About Nuts

What life with Nuts looks like

Nuts is a senior mixed breed animal waiting at RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex in United Kingdom.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Nuts far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nuts, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nuts?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nuts on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nuts if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nuts already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nuts isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nuts and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
