Nyx

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Saved from poor living conditions Nyx especially shy cat, who needs to earn trust with patience. Very calm nature, and although initially reserved, it starts purring quickly under petting and visibly relaxes. Gets along well with other cats, so it would feel comfortable next to a calm cat companion. Since it cannot tolerate loud noises and sudden movements, it needs a quieter environment: rather in a calmer, child-free family, next to older children or even an elderly person. It needs time to adapt, but rewards patience with endless kindness. FIV-FeLV-FIP tests are negative. Important! If I have taken your fancy, please only apply as an adopter if you are willing to commit for life and are a responsible pet owner, for whom the cat is not just garden decoration but a family member. Do you accept that when moving (whether abroad, from garden to apartment, or to another rental), you will take me with you as another family member and ensure that even if something happens to you, I will have a place and above all safety to live.

About Nyx

What life with Nyx looks like

Nyx is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Rex Kutyaotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Nyx, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Nyx?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rex Kutyaotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Nyx on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Nyx if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rex Kutyaotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Nyx already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Nyx isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rex Kutyaotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Nyx and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
