Obelix

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 10 months

Obelix is a neutered mixed-breed male dog born in October 2025, who was found as a puppy with his siblings Odette, Olivera, Ottilia, Oda, Ollie, and Oliver and brought to the Serbian animal shelter Svilos. He and his siblings were lovingly raised there. Obelix is an exceptionally friendly, affectionate, and cuddly dog who enjoys human company. He loves spending time with his two-legged friends, enjoys being petted, and is happy with any attention. At the same time, Obelix is an active and energetic dog full of life. He plays and runs around enthusiastically on the exercise yard, and especially enjoys chasing balls. Despite his active and playful side, Obelix can also settle down and relax next to his humans. He loves other dogs and plays with them extensively and joyfully. His behavior towards cats and other animals is unknown to us. We are looking for active and adventurous people who enjoy spending time with their dog and providing physical and mental stimulation. Walks, varied activities, and interesting shared experiences should be part of his future routine. At the same time, his family should also provide him with the necessary rest and relaxation.

HU·Show original

About Obelix

What life with Obelix looks like

Obelix is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Obelix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Obelix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Obelix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Obelix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Obelix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Obelix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Obelix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
