Adopt Ocean

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Profile Age: born in November 2022 Gender: female Spayed: yes Character: friendly, calm, shy towards strangers, compatible with other animals Size: approx. 50 cm in the shelter since: January 2023 Relatives: sister Marou - already adopted Helloooo, dear two-leggers! I am Ocean - one of two "Teddy bear sisters" - we were called that because we were still so small and cuddly. In early 2023 we were found near the shelter on the roadside. How we got there, I unfortunately don't remember anymore. Maybe I was unwanted by people... or something terrible happened to my mother. But one thing I know: Since that day I have been safe and no longer have to fear for my life. My past was certainly not easy - but my future? It will be wonderful! When I am with people I trust, I am a quiet, gentle and very friendly mouse who enjoys the rare attention from the heart. Even when visitors come from strangers, I get infected by the joy of my fellow inmates and jump happily and full of curiosity along the cage fence. But as soon as these people enter the cage, I prefer to stay a bit in the background - I'm still shy. Visitors from Germany only have a few minutes per cage, and that is simply not enough for me to show them that I can trust them. But deep in my heart I feel: If someone gives me time, patience and love, I will open up and give my heart. I dream of exciting walks, running over meadows and fields, learning the dog ABC - and of course of a cozy bed all for myself. And of "my" person, whom I can show every day how grateful and loyal I am. Maybe you are exactly the one who will fill my bowl, bring me my basket and tuck me into bed? Then please contact me - I can hardly wait to meet you. If you are interested in Ocean, please fill out our application form () or send us an email at or a message via Facebook. Ocean is ready for adoption and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces is the database system used to monitor all animal traffic within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed and have an EU passport. In addition, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is carried out for dogs over 12 months before the travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis and leishmaniasis. Johanna P.-S. has taken over the sponsorship of Ocean and thus ensures a filled bowl. Thank you very much on behalf of the dogs!

About Ocean

What life with Ocean looks like

Ocean is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ocean, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ocean?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ocean on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ocean if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ocean already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ocean isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ocean and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
