Odin

Male

Odin is an intelligent, well-socialized, and very people-oriented dog with a strong character. He builds an incredibly close bond with his people, loves physical closeness, and enjoys shared quiet times. At the same time, he is attentive, eager to learn, and likes to work closely with his people. With familiar dogs, Odin gets along well. However, when it comes to unfamiliar or excitable dogs, he reacts more anxiously, so he needs calm, dog-experienced people with clear leadership and good management. Cats should not live in the same household. At home, Odin is quiet and pleasant in everyday life. However, it is important to be attentive because he likes to take and eat plastic, paper, fabric, tissues, or food remnants. When he is alone, nothing should be left lying around. Even on walks, a very forward-thinking guide is needed, as he will take and eat anything he finds. At the vet, he shows a friendly, accessible, and cooperative attitude. Odin suffers from allergies, sensitive skin, and previous digestive issues. However, after a long search, a diet was found that suits him very well. Additionally, he requires daily Apoquel. Therefore, his current diet and treatment must be maintained. For Odin and Lola, I wish for responsible, dog-experienced people with patience, calmness, understanding, and a lot of heart. Both were accompanied with great love and are incredibly loyal, sensitive, and loving companions. A permanent place is sought for the two, where they can truly belong and not be rehomed again. I would also be very happy if the connection could continue. Ideally, the two would be rehomed together.

About Odin

What life with Odin looks like

Odin is a adult dog waiting at Wotans Tierhilfe in Wotans.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Odin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Odin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Wotans Tierhilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Odin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Odin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Wotans Tierhilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Odin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Odin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Wotans Tierhilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Odin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
