adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Odin can travel directly to his own home! His story: The cute little puppy jumps around with endless energy, his tiny tail wags like a joy metronome. With his big, curious eyes and floppy ears, he explores his surroundings curiously and stumbles over his own paws now and then. And thus, Odin's life didn't start so easy. Together with his four siblings, Hera, Hermes, Vince, and Kana, he was born in a remote spot under a bridge by his mother Nanni. Fortunately, the family was saved, and now they all eagerly wait in their Romanian foster home to be seen and travel to their forever home. Odin with the fluffy black-brown fur will likely grow to a medium size. Odin gets along well with his fellow animals and already knows cats. We assume he is a shepherd dog mix and brings along some hunting dog genes. Odin is looking for people who don't expect much from him at first and show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. One or another mishap shouldn't be held against him, and Odin should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. He is looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies should be as little alone as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down, and often sweet little babies become medium-sized rebels. They "forget" everything they have learned so far, and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent— but lovingly—trained. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! Odin would also be very happy to travel to a foster home. Odin travels microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Of course, he also has an EU pet passport. Ready for Odin? He is looking forward to your inquiry. Thanks Natalie P.! You gave Odin this pretty name and thus an identity. Status: 03.05.

Stand: 03.05.2025

About Odin

What life with Odin looks like

Odin is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Odin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Odin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Odin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Odin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Odin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Odin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Odin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
