• I need a quiet environment: No • I can live in a city: Yes • I get along with families with children: No • I can get along with other dogs: No, except for a few female dogs. • I have lived with cats: Not really, but I spent one night in a place where there was a cat and I didn't react to it. • I have the following special characteristics regarding temperament or breed traits: Yes, I may bite if I'm scared. • Things to note regarding my health are: – • The following health procedures have been done for me: spaying and neutering. • I have lived in home care situations: Only a few days during my life. • I have been in a shelter kennel for over 2 years: Yes • I know how to walk on a leash: Yes Hello, here I am, spicy old man! I am a special adoption due to my background as a stray. I have learned from this challenge in the shelter kennel. However, I may still make mistakes, and I cannot promise not to show teeth or bite when I get excited. I am one of the longest staying residents in the shelter kennel. My chances of adoption have been reduced by my cautious behavior and my mature age. Good experiences with people and the health procedures done for me have actually made my character more gentle. I have already had surgery on both of my legs, and my condition has improved a lot since then. I am apparently much more pleasant and calm than before.

About Olafas

What life with Olafas looks like

Olafas is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Pet Rescue Finland in Helsinki.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olafas, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olafas?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pet Rescue Finland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olafas on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olafas if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pet Rescue Finland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olafas already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olafas isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pet Rescue Finland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olafas and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
