adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Ole has found his spot in Romania! His story: Baia Mare, Romania. Ole – sweet as sugar… but he will always be overlooked! All his siblings have already found a family in Germany, only our poor Ole hasn't. Ole lives in a Romanian foster home, but he is eagerly waiting for his very own dog bed. Ole is now approximately 1.5 years old and about 50 cm tall. Ole is a friendly and curious male dog. At first, he is a bit shy and doesn't run up immediately. Ole has lived in a Romanian foster home since puppyhood. He lives in safety and is cared for there, but he hasn't learned much. He doesn't know how to use dishes, a collar, or a leash. He hasn't been housebroken or taught anything else. Ole must learn to live in a household. Ole would like a home that can give him as much time as possible. He is in the middle of puberty and is looking for people who will take him by the paw and guide him through adulthood. Ole is looking for an experienced, active family that can guide him through this time with patience and positive consequences. We are sure that Ole will make a great companion. Children should be old enough and accustomed to handling them. We cannot say how he gets along with cats, as he hasn't met any yet. Positive dog training classes and dog sports would be perfect for Ole! Our Ole travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated to his new home. He will bring his EU pet passport with him after a positive home check. Ole is now looking for his family, who would like to give this sweet one a home? Of course, he also accepts foster home offers! Many thanks to Sabine R.! You have given Ole his name!. This is a puppy.

Vielen Dank Sabine R.! Du hast Ole seinen Namen geschenkt!

About Ole

What life with Ole looks like

Ole is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ole, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ole?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ole on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ole if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ole already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ole isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ole and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
