Olek

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 1 month

Olek was only 5 weeks old when he got into the shelter. He ended up in the animal shelter together with his siblings, none of them knew what was happening! But there's nothing surprising about it! Such little ones ended up in a place where there is noise, the barking of hundreds of dogs and there was nowhere a mother they so desperately needed. Olek grew up here, and volunteers taught him literally everything! He allows to be petted, he also comes forward on his own and asks for cuddles. He is still learning what love, cuddles and petting mean. In a new home he will surely grasp more quickly that nothing bad is happening to him and that it is nice. When he sees a person, there is no end to his joy! He is always very happy when someone stands next to his cage and says the magic word "walk". It's hard to describe the joy that appears in him then! He can walk on a leash. When Olek is cuddled, he lies on his back and sweetly shows his belly. When you extend your hand to one of the dogs, the whole trio gathers. They love cuddles so much. No one has ever shown interest in any of the brothers, so they are sitting together in one cage. We called them Kindery, because after all, they are still children! Until recently, they had their Guide, their older friend, "leader", who they never left even for a step! Some time ago, the Leader left, and they were left completely alone and initially didn't know how to cope without him... However, Kindery want to change and open up even more to people! They are increasingly convinced that people are not bad! None of them even have a trace of aggression! The future caregiver must be prepared that at first Olek will have to get used to and adapt to the new situation, because he has never had a home. It would be nice if he lived in a house with a yard or an active family that would provide him with the right amount of activity. It would be good in the home to have another dog, but it is not necessary. Love Olka, who has never known what warmth and love from a human being means! He was born in 2017. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Olek tutaj dorósł, a wolontariusze nauczyli go dosłownie wszystkiego! Kasia 507 237 447

About Olek

What life with Olek looks like

Olek is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Radom in Radom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Radom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Radom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Radom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
