OLI &#8211

Maltese · Male · Puppy · 4 months

OLI – Patentier Rasse: Malteser / white Age: September 5, 2019 Oli is in the >> ATs-Patenschaftsprojekt Project Updated: April 24, 2026 The male dog Oli is friendly, active, and attentive. Currently, he looks a bit "bald" due to his fur having been shaved. Oli arrived with us quite neglected and stressed. At the time, he did not want to be groomed by our animal attendants and responded with snap attacks. We gave him time to get used to and settle in. In the meantime, he allows himself to be handled well by familiar people. However, animal health checks are still a horror for him; he does not like being held firmly or "fixed." With targeted exercises and positive reinforcement, some improvements in behavior have already been achieved. With other dogs, if the chemistry is right, he gets along very well. Basic obedience / leash control is present but needs to be built upon and strengthened. Oli knows how to ride in a car, and that should not be a problem. Oli requires regular fur care once it has grown back. He must be encouraged with varied walks, some head work, possibly tracking and search games, depending on what brings him joy, but not overburdened, as sufficient rest phases are very important for a dog's well-being. Oli requires consistent, but fair and fine leadership. A good, suitable dog training class is advantageous. Oli came from a case involving two other dogs (re-homed) and originally came from Slovakia, arriving as a puppy in Switzerland. For Oli, we are looking for a new home with people who have a lot of time and dog experience. Although Oli is one of the smaller dogs, he needs to be encouraged. We only place Oli with people who can take him to work or who spend a lot of time at home. A house or apartment with a well-secured garden or seating area would be nice, but does not have to be present. Oli is not suitable for children. About OLI &#8211

What life with OLI &#8211 looks like

OLI &#8211 is a small puppy/kitten maltese dog waiting at Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs in Zug (Allenwinden & Neuheim).

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting OLI &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about OLI &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw OLI &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt OLI &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is OLI &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if OLI &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs early rather than rehoming privately; they know OLI &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
