Olio

Male · Young · 1 year

Olio is looking for a experienced second half – a person who will give the dog and themselves time to get to know each other's needs. Before he came to our group, the behaviorist Palucha knew him better than their own bags of treats. And we continue this work and are looking for a home that will become his safe point on the map – a place where the bowl is always in the same corner, and people say "calm down, you have time." Olio once had his own human. What did he go through? He doesn't reveal, but his behavior suggests it wasn't all pink. In the first contact, he is cautious, as if checking whether it's worth investing in new relationships. However, when someone gives him a moment, space, and consistency – he can take a step forward. Small, delicate, but his own. This is a dog for someone who already knows the dog alphabet: they know that reluctance to contact is not malice, and a "small success" may simply mean a calm walk without excess stimulation. Olio needs someone who will show him that the world can be predictable, gentle and friendly. At the animal shelter we do what we can – we give him the foundations, but full rebuilding of trust will happen only at home. Adopting Olio is a process, not a quick "I'll take it and go." There will be time for a pre-adoption visit, several meetings and checking whether hearts say "yes, it's him." We are looking for a patient, calm person ready for a marathon, not a sprint. For now, Olio is not a candidate for a home with children or in the city center – too much for him all at once. But if you're reading this and feel that maybe you could be his human... someone who will show him that you can start over, that the world has good sides, and the chocolate coat looks quite nice in home light – get in touch. Olio is waiting. And although he's not ready for new things yet – he would very much like to be one day. Olio and the rest of the group 6 can also be met at:

Olio poszukuje doświadczonej drugiej połówki – osoby, która da czas psu oraz sobie, aby lepiej poznać potrzeby Olio. Zanim trafił do naszej grupy, behawiorystki Palucha znały go lepiej niż własne torby na smaki. About Olio

What life with Olio looks like

Olio is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires behavioral rehabilitation, needs quiet environment away from city center

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
