Oliver und William

European Shorthair · Male · Kitten · 10 months

Oliver (more information) and William came to our shelter with their sister. They were very young, probably born on the street. They are still shy around people. William is enjoying more and more cuddles and no longer runs away every time someone approaches. Oliver is still a bit skeptical but he also starts purring when you pet him. With some patience, they will be two great cats. They are very curious and playful and long for a new home. Small children and dogs should not be in the new home. Both have struggled with an ear infection for a long time. Unfortunately, William is still being treated. Since we've been doing this for months, he has gotten used to it pretty well and is doing very well. We hope that will be over soon. Unfortunately, they both had ringworm, where we are currently waiting for the negative result. This should come in the next few days. Only then can you see them live here. However, you can already sign up as an interested party so they can be adopted as soon as possible after the result arrives.

DE·Show original

About Oliver und William

What life with Oliver und William looks like

Oliver und William is a small puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Kolner Tierschutzverein in Köln.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oliver und William, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oliver und William?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kolner Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oliver und William on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oliver und William if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kolner Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oliver und William already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oliver und William isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kolner Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oliver und William and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
