Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

8/10/26 – Ollie has been a very popular boy, so we are taking no further applications for him at this time. If you have been sent an application form to complete, please do so, and submit, but no new enquires are being taken. Introducing the very handsome Ollie ! – He is the sweetest 11yr old Bedlington Terrier currently in Oldies Club Care being fostered in Gainsbrough, Lincolnshire. His bag is packed and he can't wait to start his new life . Summary : Ollie is a playful chap with a zest for life and would love a family to go on adventures with and play with him and his toys. He's polite, gentle and affectionate and would benefit from living alongside another dog and whilst he could live with children over 6yrs of age, he would be equally content being someones best friend accompanying you to the pub or local cafe – he's an adaptable boy who thrives on human company. Settled into foster : Ollie took about 4 weeks to settle into his foster home. Can be left for short periods: Ollie can be left on his own, and whilst he will sometimes bark initially, he does settle and is getting more used to solo time. Ollie loves his people around him, but he could maybe live with people that go out to work, so long as he gets a good morning walk and has a visit and toilet break in the middle of the day. Can live with dogs: Ollie lived with a dog in his previous/original home, and appears to take great comfort and direction from the other dog in foster. He loves meeting dogs on walks and has gotten along with visiting dogs. He would love a new doggy bestie ! Can't live with cats : Ollie tries to chase cats and barks. He also displayed a big interest in a relative's chickens and appears to have a healthy terrier prey drive- we do not recommend he be placed with cats or small animals. Could live with children: Ollie has had children aged 12 upwards visiting his foster home, and visited homes with children aged 4+. He is very affectionate and polite. It is felt he would be happy living with children aged 6+ Sleeping arrangements: Ollie currently sleeps d ownstairs, usually in the living room, on his chair or bed. (We think he snuck upstairs for his photo call !) Slowly got used to walks: Ollie was initially reluctant to go on grass and preferred pavement and hardstanding, but now he has groomed nails and has grown in confidence ,he loves a walk in the woods or park, as well as around the town. Ollie has no recall at present and so is not let off the lead. It maybe as he is a little hard of hearing or he has never needed it. He does walk well on the lead, but will pull when he's feeling excited or there’s a particularly good sniffy spot! Ollie was initially nervous on his walks and would want to turn around after 15 mins, but n ow he's settled he has two walks a day, between 20 and 40 minutes. Ollie is a great communicator and will bring you his toys and bark/whine if he hasn't had his walks. His fosterer uses a harness on Ollie as they have found that leads around his neck cause him to cough. He comes to you and will help you put his harness on. What a superstar ! Loves the car: Ollie shows eagerness to travel and will jump in the car when the door is opened. He generally travels well, but prefers to be secured and can shake and whine for bumpy or long journeys. If he gets tangled in his seat belt he will bark to let you know. Favourite pastimes: The list is a long one ! Ollie loves his toys – the squeakier the better ! He is such a clever boy and adores enrichment challenges, especially if there is a treat in store at the end. He loves his walks and finds enjoyment from a variety of environments – lastly cuddles – he will come for cuddles everyday and nothing makes him happier than sitting on your lap or getting belly tickles. Frightened of anything? ; nothing fazes this typical terrier. Brave to the end ! Suitable home : Ollie would make a cracking companion for a family who will play with him, save him a spot on the sofa and take him on adventures. He is a gentleman with respectful children, seeks interaction and great with resident or visiting dogs. Equally, he would love an adult only home with another dog and someone who’ll take him to the pub, shops or cafe and cosy up with him in the evening with a cuddle. If there's interaction, affection and play on offer, he really will make a fabulous pet for a lucky home with his best years ahead of him. Health Issues: Ollie is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped . He is susceptible to ear infections so has ear wipes to keep them clean and help manage reoccurances. On arrival in foster he needed hydrating shampoo to manage some skin conditions but this has now improved and his vet has found no current issues. He will need regular grooming to prevent matting and keep him looking handsome. He has a small cyst on his snout that is responding well to cleaning and keeping shaved. He is also taking some doggie supplements and metacam. This little chap has had lots of change in his life of late, but it's clear that with the love and care he has received in his foster home he has come such a long way. He has definitely endeared himself to his foster family. Four adjectives that sum up Ollie: Thorough, Playful, Affectionate, Gentleman Final comments from fosterer: " Ollie has been away with us and adjusted to the new space really well! He loved our countryside break and would do well on holidays once settled. A great communicator- Ollie will bark or stand by the door when he needs to toilet, or bring you his toys when he wants to play. Ollie likes a blanket on his beds- he would dig them off of the back of our chairs until we realised this. We think he likes to be cosy !" ———————— If you can offer Ollie his forever home, please read our Adoption Procedures for information about the . You can then contact the Oldies Club rehoming team as follows: Email: for an application form. Or , leaving a message including your email address, and we’ll email an application form. Ollie can be rehomed anywhere on the UK mainland – the closer to his foster home the better – subject to a satisfactory home visit. Note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to collect them. If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.

About Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington

What life with Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington looks like

Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ollie the Beautiful Bedlington and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
