Adopt Olmo

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Olmo is a rare and good-natured boy that the staff is very fond of. He has a wonderful appearance with his extra long tongue, which melts every heart. Olmo is a pleasant lad with a harmonious disposition. He loves to play and chase, and he eagerly joins in on his siblings’ initiatives. He enjoys lying and “relaxing” in the sun while studying what’s going on around him. He often shares long playdates with one of the hundskötars and seems to understand what they are talking about. Olmo likes to get to know kind people—but they must first show that they are just that—kind. When sister Robinia moved to Sweden, Olmo became sad. As comfort, he then became “reservpappa” to valpen Sofia. Olmo takes the task seriously and is a fantastic mentor who guides little Sofia with patience and kindness. They enjoy each other’s company and often go for walks together, exploring and sharing experiences. Olmo has also met other dogs and shown a fine dog language and a welcoming attitude. Others often choose his company because he is always so nice. If there is a dog in the new home, it shouldn’t be of the “wild” type, as he gets along best with a bit more laid-back friends. We believe that Olmo with his friendly nature will also be a good friend to a dog or cat. For our lovely Olmo, we now seek the loving forever home where he will be appreciated as the gentle, fine boy he is. The home should be in a quiet location. Olmo would like to live with a kind dog companion who can be his guide in the new life and a fun playmate to be with. You must as a new owner keep in mind that Olmo has grown up behind protective walls and therefore lacks exposure to the outside world—meaning he must not be pressured where he feels insecure—before new people or new environments. Background: It’s not uncommon for valpar to be dumped outside SaveTheDogs facility, Footprints of Joy. Despite their misfortune, they are all fortunate—no abandoned valpar are left uncared for, and they are guaranteed both life and future.

About Olmo

What life with Olmo looks like

Olmo is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hundhjälpen in Stockholm.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olmo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olmo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundhjälpen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olmo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olmo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundhjälpen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olmo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olmo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundhjälpen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olmo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
