Adopt Ombre

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Breed: Mix. Gender: Male. Date of birth: January 2016. Height: 54 cm. Weight: 26 kgIn a shelter from: November 2020 Family in the shelter: No family! Ombre comes from a local animal shelter where the dogs were living in very poor conditions. He lived there together with 130 other dogs of different breeds, ages and sizes. We decided to close this shelter in 2020 and give the dogs the necessary care, medical treatment and lots of love (see “News”). After medical treatment and sterilisation, Ombre was unfortunately not ready for adoption. He was unsocialised and didn’t like being touched by people or being around them. We worked with Ombre for years and managed to make progress with him. Ombre is now ready for his own home and we hope to find good owners for him. Because he deserves a better life after so many years of suffering. Ombre is calm, cuddly and loves to run outside.

About Ombre

What life with Ombre looks like

Ombre is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Rescue Bosnia in Bosnia.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ombre, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ombre?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Rescue Bosnia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ombre on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ombre if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Rescue Bosnia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ombre already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ombre isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Rescue Bosnia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ombre and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
