Ophelia

Yorkshire Terrier · Female · Adult · 4 years

08-06-26 Ophelia is a tiny, dinky little lady who has come to us from a breeder and is now ready to begin her search for a loving forever home. She is a little overwhelmed and worried to find herself here, but underneath her initial shyness is the sweetest little girl. With a little patience and kindness, Ophelia soon begins to relax and show her lovely nature. Once she gets to know you, she'll toddle over with a wagging tail to say hello and happily climb onto your lap for a cuddle. She absolutely adores gentle fuss and has even been known to give the most adorable little kisses. Ophelia is looking for a calm and quiet home where she can continue to build her confidence at her own pace. She would love a family who will cherish her and allow her to become their special little companion, enjoying plenty of lap time and affection. We would consider homing her with gentle, dog savvy older teenagers. She relies on other dogs for comfort and reassurance, so Ophelia will need another kind and confident resident dog in her new home to help show her the way and give her the confidence she needs to settle into family life. Ophelia has never lived in a home before, so her new family will need to be patient and understanding as she learns all about home life and new skills like house training. She will also need to learn all about walking on a lead and harness, first practicing around the garden before venturing further. This sweet little girl may be worried right now, but with love and TLC, she will blossom into a devoted and affectionate companion. Our vets have noted that she has a Grade 2-3 luxating patella in her right hind leg, this may improve with gentle exercise as she builds muscle, but would not be covered by insurance should she need any treatment in the future. She is also a little underweight at the moment, but with good nutrition should soon start to fill out. Ophelia has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Ophelia

What life with Ophelia looks like

Ophelia is a very small adult yorkshire terrier dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ophelia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ophelia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ophelia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ophelia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ophelia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ophelia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ophelia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
