Orca

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Over Orcas past, we unfortunately know very little. What he has already experienced, we can only guess – but his behavior speaks softly yet clearly of fear, uncertainty, and lack of security. Orca is one of these dogs that aren't immediately understood upon first glance, whose story isn't told in words but in behavior. Orca is approximately 9 months old and a medium-sized male dog. He is extremely fearful and shy, and out of sheer fear, he sometimes takes flight. This means that he can also snap out of fear when in distress. For this reason, we are looking for Orca exclusively for very experienced adopters or a foster home with extensive experience in dealing with highly fearful dogs. Orca has not known life in a home and thus must learn everything. For this, he needs primarily time, patience, and a high degree of empathy to build trust step by step. On-site, we will approach him as best we can, but a shelter cannot replace a home. We want to give Orca this one chance – so that he does not retreat further and become irreversibly detached from people, but can learn that closeness can also mean security. The young puppy has beautiful black fur with white accents on his face, chest, legs, and tail. What Orca has already experienced in his young life, we do not know, but his eyes look more experienced than his young age suggests. Whoever gives Orca a chance must be aware that it will be a long road. A great deal of experience with fearful dogs is essential here. Orca needs people who can provide him with clear structures where he can find security and build trust. Consistency, love, patience, and no expectations go hand in hand here. Collaboration with a positively working dog training class would certainly be a strong support. Orca is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He brings an EU pet passport and can be rehomed after a positive assessment. An experienced foster home could also be the first step in a new life. Do you meet all the prerequisites and can provide Orca with a home and space so that his soul can heal? This dog will be rehomed together with the organization Arme Hundeseelen Rumänien. The double posting on both organizations' sides and possibly on other portals serves to increase his visibility and find the right home for him faster. With the organization, there is a close exchange. Every inquiry for the dog is directly discussed and passed on. In the name of Orca, we thank Nicole very much. Thanks to you, Orca has the chance at a future. As of: 22.12.2025 adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog!

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 28.08.2026

About Orca

What life with Orca looks like

Orca is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Orca, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Orca?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Orca on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Orca if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Orca already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Orca isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Orca and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
