Oréo

Border Collie · Male

Oreo, a young adventurer with everything to discover! He is chipped and vaccinated. Oreo recently arrived at the shelter after a stay in a pound. Unfortunately, we know nothing about his past, but one thing is certain: this young dog still has everything to discover and his whole life to build! At only a few months old, Oreo is a small (or rather big!) adventurous dog full of life and curiosity. A bit of a goofball, he explores his environment, goes to the right, to the left, sniffs, observes... In short, he enjoys every moment to discover this world that he still knows so little about! He is an energetic, dynamic and enthusiastic dog who loves walks and new discoveries. With his origins from a Beauceron crossed with a Border Collie, he will certainly need to exercise regularly, both physically and mentally. On the education side, everything remains to be built! Oreo still has a lot to learn, but he already has a very good asset: he is attentive and a good listener. With patience, consistency and a benevolent education, he should be able to progress and become a wonderful companion. We are looking for an active family for Oreo, available and ready to invest in his education. He will need masters who love walks, activities and who will want to gradually introduce him to all the beautiful things in life. Oreo did not have the best start in life, but his story is only just beginning. Come meet him at the Sisteron shelter! For more information, do not hesitate to contact us!

About Oréo

What life with Oréo looks like

Oréo is a medium-sized adult border collie dog waiting at Association Canine Sisteronaise in association canine sisteronaise.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oréo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oréo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Canine Sisteronaise handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oréo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oréo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Canine Sisteronaise will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Oréo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oréo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Canine Sisteronaise early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oréo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
