Oreo

Male · Adult · 8 years

Oreo is at our cat shelter Ochota na Kota at ul. Grójeckiej 79 in Warsaw. You can meet him there in more "home-like" conditions and adopt him the next day. Oreo arrived at the animal shelter dirty, scared, and with torn ears. Did he have a home before? Has he always lived on the street and fought for survival every day? His previous life was certainly not easy. But we know what he is like now. As soon as he sees a person, he tries to get onto their lap in a second. He grabs with his paw, cuddles, "talks," looks straight into their eyes, and starts purring loudly. He likes it when he is petted - isn't that adorable? His fur does not look perfect yet, but we are on the right track to make it shiny and beautifully groomed again. Every day Oreo is blooming more and more. Like any cat, he needs an appropriate amount of good, high-quality activity - such as something that really satisfies him (yes, not every kind of play with a cat is good!). With the right, calm introduction, Oreo would probably get along with another cat with a similar temperament. Oreo przebywa w naszym kocim punkcie Ochota na Kota przy ul. Grójeckiej 79 w Warszawie. Można go tam poznać w bardziej „domowych” warunkach i na drugi dzień adoptować. Oreo do schroniska przyjechał brudny, przestraszony i z postrzępionymi uszami. About Oreo

What life with Oreo looks like

Oreo is a small adult cat waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: Recovering from rough past life, coat still improving

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oreo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oreo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oreo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oreo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oreo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oreo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oreo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
