Adopt Orion

Male

Previously: lived since the beginning at the shelter in Guadeloupe My character: speedy; friendly; nippy; stubborn; likes to learn; athletic; full of energy Size: 18.20 kg Health: heartworms from Guadeloupe treated Hello my favorite internet friends! My name is Orion and I come from Guadeloupe! I arrived at the shelter in a sad condition... I have heartworms but the shelter is doing everything possible to improve my health by giving me the appropriate treatment! You understand that finding me a family as soon as possible would be truly ideal!!! Being confined is very difficult for me! I get excited quickly behind my bars (a little claustrophobic and yes it happens even to the best ones 😁) so sometimes I am so lacking freedom that I become a bit grumpy! Anxiety speaks for me and I need lots of space to thrive! The volunteers notice that I am improving, I am now easier to handle and I am learning little by little to forget my bad habits! When I am with calm people I settle down. I then become a well-behaved and peaceful dog! A family with a calm but firm temperament will therefore be very much desired! Now after a good understanding of my environment, I sit down to ask for my small treat, enjoy my walk without pulling and appreciate the moments of life! My family? I am waiting for it with very firm paws! Because she will need me as much as I will need her - A "fusion" family is what I need! A home that already knows life with a dog will be recommended and especially one that will know how to teach me gently and calmly without shouting when it's time to say no to me! If you recognize yourself reading these few lines and if I have thought with my heart, come quickly to help me escape these bars!

About Orion

What life with Orion looks like

Orion is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at SPA de l in France.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Orion, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Orion?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA de l handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Orion on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Orion if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA de l will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Orion already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Orion isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA de l early rather than rehoming privately; they know Orion and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
