Oscar

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Kitten · 18 months

Oscar is a very shy male cat who is still learning the ropes at ARC. He arrived at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre as a stray having been found wandering with another cat in Bristol. Luckily, he was in good condition and a decent weight. When he first arrived, he spent most of the day hiding in his outside bed, only sometimes coming out from his hide to have a peek at whats going on. However over the past few weeks he has suddenly started to feel a lot more at home and now, when his carers enter his pen to spend time with him he will almost immedietly come out of hiding for a fuss. He absolutely loves affection. It just takes him a little while to feel comfortable around people initially. He has not quite got to grips with playing yet but we are confident that in time, he will learn to enjoy toys. He does not have any health issues but is currently on behaviour medication to help him cope in a cattery environment. As you can see, he is a beautiful lad with short hair and a stocky build. We are looking for a calm home where his adopters will treat him with patience and care to allow him to slowly come out of his shell. He has a very cute little meow to let you know when he wants a fuss "*" indicates required fields Here’s where we ask more questions about you, your lifestyle and what you’re looking for in a pet. About Oscar

What life with Oscar looks like

Oscar is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat cat waiting at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre in Bristol.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oscar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oscar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bristol Animal Rescue Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oscar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oscar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bristol Animal Rescue Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oscar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oscar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bristol Animal Rescue Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oscar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
