Adopt Oszkár

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Information about "Oszkár": Breed: mixed breed Gender: male Born: 03.2020 (estimated) Color: light brown Vaccinated: yes Neutered: yes Microchipped: yes Kennel dog: no shoulder height: ca. 60 cm Current location: Hárkany, Hungary Update October 2024: Oszkár had to leave its home within a few days. Unfortunately, our Hungarian colleagues did not have the means to accommodate Oszkár in the short time frame, so the only option was to place him in a dog boarding facility. Oszkár is now in Hevecia, Kecskemet at the Swiss Ranch. It turned out that the relationship between Oszkár and its family was not as good as expected. He left the property out of boredom and was then difficult to catch. Background: Oszkár was rescued from the street by our Hungarian colleagues two years ago from poor living conditions. Quickly, a family was found for him in Hungary. Everything could have been perfect, but unfortunately, the family moved to an apartment. The family would have been happy to take Oszkár with them, but he does not want to be in the apartment. He has stress indoors, he does not feel comfortable; he needs a yard, a field where he can run and be free! He is currently 3 years old, a medium-sized, neutered male dog. Oszkár is somewhat dominant with larger male dogs but plays well with other dogs. At the moment, he has access to the house whenever he wants, observing the owner. He also loves children, and cats are also okay for him. For Oszkár, it would be hell if he were confined to a kennel. We are looking for a place with a large yard and access to the house for him. Ozskár could soon be microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, and ready to travel with a blue EU passport. Sabine Rosentreter-Koch Name and donation for sponsors.

About Oszkár

What life with Oszkár looks like

Oszkár is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein TS Nie mehr allein e.V. in Mildstedt.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Oszkár, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Oszkár?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein TS Nie mehr allein e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Oszkár on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Oszkár if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein TS Nie mehr allein e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Oszkár already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Oszkár isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein TS Nie mehr allein e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Oszkár and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
