Otis

Mixed Breed · Female

Breed: Domestic Short Hair Can live with: Only cat in the home Here comes Otis! He is looking for a new home after being adopted from us in June. After trying their best, his adopters realised their pet cat really didn’t enjoy sharing her space. Otis wants to be king and rule the roost! He’s a very sweet and loveable cat, who enjoys cuddles and likes to sleep up against you in bed. Otis is playful and loves exploring a garden. He’s looking for an active new home as the only cat, but could potentially live with a calm dog who is used to living with cats. We don’t think he’d be suitable for very young children but could live with older cat-experienced kids. We’d love for him to find a new home soon, so he doesn’t need to spend too long back in the cattery. He’s fully vaccinated and neutered, ready to go!

About Otis

What life with Otis looks like

Otis is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Otis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Otis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Otis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Otis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Otis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Otis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Brighton and the Heart of Sussex early rather than rehoming privately; they know Otis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
