He is a lovely, affectionate boy with a sweet nature and plenty of love to give. Unfortunately, he has experienced some tensions with another male dachshund in his current home, and finding him a home where he can have a calmer environment of his own would be the best option for everyone. He is in generally good health, although he has a history of seizures, currently occurring approximately once a month. He is not currently taking medication for these, but adopters will need to discuss his condition with their vet and monitor him carefully. The Red Foundation will provide medical support if this is needed. Overall, Otis is a sweet and loving dog who deserves a patient, understanding home that will give him the care, stability and affection he needs. Otis is house-trained and travels well in the car. He could also live with sensible, dog-savvy children aged 8 years and over who can understand and respect his needs. Otis is generally comfortable around other dogs and is usually unbothered by them on walks. He can stay at home alone for up to four hours once he has been gradually introduced to being alone.
