Otto

Male ยท Young ยท 1 year

Otto was admitted into our care after he was found abandoned alongside several other cats. After time spent with our animal care team, he is now ready to find himself a new home. Otto is a very friendly, affectionate boy who loves to say hello to everyone he meets, he always enjoys a cuddle and also loves to have a warm comfortable space to cosy up in. Due to being playful and energetic, he will need a lot of playtime in his new home as well as a space that he can feel safe and come out to explore at his own pace. Once settled, he would love to be able to have access to the outdoors. Otto does enjoy fuss and attention but he does not like being picked up and held! Due to being admitted as a stray, it is unknown how he would react to other cats and dogs in the household but may be able to live with another cat of similar personality. He could live with children over the age of 8 years who are used to cats.

About Otto

What life with Otto looks like

Otto is a young adult cat waiting at USPCA.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction โ€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ชAdopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Otto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Otto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. USPCA handles screening and the adoption contract directly โ€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Otto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Otto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad โ€” USPCA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Otto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported โ€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Otto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work โ€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with USPCA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Otto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect โ€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
