Ozzy

Male · Young · 2 years

Ozzy came to us in July 2025 as a young dog who had never been properly raised. Our beginning was definitely not easy and we had to teach him everything, including the fact that at the end of the leash is a person, not a burden slowing down his run forward. Now Ozzy is a completely different dog – he can stop and slow down, comes when called, and learns new things very quickly. Day by day, he becomes more approachable and appreciates human presence more and more. He has learned basic commands, we quickly worked out using a muzzle, and we found out that he bravely endures car rides and is really a brave patient at the veterinarian. Sometimes he still runs into us without grace or sense, or pulls on the leash so that we wonder where he gets all that strength, but after all, he's a young dog who spent his youth behind bars instead of enjoying life. Unfortunately, we can also see the effects of not having proper socialization in his youth. Ozzy reacts very emotionally to other dogs and can pull strongly on the leash, and since he is a large and strong dog, keeping him requires considerable skill. Strong emotions are also triggered by stimuli like passing cars or buses. Ozzy has made great progress, which shows that with dedicated work he will be a great companion for the right person. We are looking for a responsible and experienced person who will take care of Ozzie's needs and give him a sense of security. Someone who knows what it's like to live with a strong dog of the TTB type who wants to test how much he can afford. Ozzy will definitely feel better in a quiet area with few stimuli. In the home, he must remain the only four-legged pet. We do not recommend him for a home with children.

PL·Show original

Nie polecamy go do domu z dziećmi.

About Ozzy

What life with Ozzy looks like

Ozzy is a large young adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires experienced handler, must be only pet, needs quiet environment with minimal stimuli, reactive to other dogs and vehicles

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ozzy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ozzy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ozzy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ozzy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ozzy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ozzy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ozzy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
