Pablo

Male · Young · 2 years

Pablo is a 2-year-old Dogue-type dog whose history unfortunately remains very mysterious. He was found near the shelter, hanging from a tree. Identified with a foreign chip, we unfortunately could not obtain information about his past life. One thing is certain: Pablo seems to have had a complicated past. Even today, he is very wary of people he does not know. It takes him time to trust and accept a new person in his environment. His circle of walkers therefore remains very restricted. Pablo also seems to have a preference for men. Despite all his apprehensions, Pablo is progressing little by little. Day by day, he evolves and begins to open up more, but his progress remains fragile. He will need an adopter who can respect his pace, without ever rushing things. For Pablo, we will look for a home without children and without other animals, with people who know dogs well and can understand a sensitive and wary dog. An experienced, patient family ready to invest in the long term will be essential. Pablo needs time, patience, but also a clear, consistent and reassuring framework to be able to trust and continue to progress. His adoption will certainly require effort and patience, but offering a second chance to a dog like Pablo is also allowing him to finally discover what a serene and balanced life is.

About Pablo

What life with Pablo looks like

Pablo is a young adult dog waiting at SPA Colmar in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pablo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pablo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Colmar handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pablo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pablo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Colmar will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pablo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pablo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Colmar early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pablo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
