adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Packo can stay forever in his foster home! His story: If Packo were a Spaniard, he would be named Paco, and the Italian nickname for Francesco is Francesco. Translated literally, it means "the little Frenchman." Well, Packo is not really small at all :), but he possesses a typical French elegance in abundance. He is très chic as he saunters around the shelter courtyard in his graceful gait. Unfortunately, he can't do this often and so he lives his life in a 2 square meter small pen, losing unnecessary time. Packo is a sight to behold and, aside from that, he has a balanced, lovable personality. He meets his fellow animals at the shelter very interested and peaceful. He also shows himself to be open and friendly towards us humans. Our Packo still has much to learn, and he wants to. With an upbringing based on positive reinforcement, the foundation for a good bond and deep trust is set. Respect, understanding, and care are especially important in this phase. So, the wonderful Packo will develop into a wonderful everyday companion. A visit to dog training classes would be helpful for Packo's development. This not only brings joy but also strengthens the bond to his people. Packo wishes for a rural home with a beautiful, fenced-in garden and is already looking forward to many long walks as well as physical and mental stimulation. Cats should not live in the household, as his compatibility with others unfortunately cannot be tested in the shelter. Children should be older and stable, as Packo might occasionally be a bit stormy. It cannot be ruled out that Packo will show guardian dog traits when he settles in. Experiences with the characteristics of this breed would be advantageous and a rural home with a fenced-in garden. Packo has his suitcase packed. He travels neutered, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and vaccinated to you. He brings his EU pet passport with him and can be given a loving home after a positive adoption. Do you give the beautiful and noble Packo your heart and a loving home? Thank you to Ulrike H.! You gave the beautiful Packo his name and thus an identity. As of: 29.10.

Danke an Ulrike H.! Stand: 29.10.2024

About Packo

What life with Packo looks like

Packo is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Packo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Packo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Packo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Packo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Packo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Packo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Packo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
