Adopt Paco

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

About 2 years old (born around July 14, 2024), 39 cm, 7.7 kg, male, neutered, Leishmaniosetest negative on April 14, 2026, will be tested again before travel arrangements at the animal shelter in Spain Paco – a lively dog who simply wants to belong Paco is a cheerful and lively dog who loves to play, run, and enjoy the company of humans. When he arrived at our partner shelter, he was initially open and in good spirits. However, after a few days, he suddenly retreated into his hut and began to growl. He reacted similarly at the vet: everything was fine at first, but on the second day, it became much more difficult. But just as quickly as this insecurity appeared, it disappeared again. Today, Paco shows an uncomplicated attitude in the shelter. He easily allows himself to be leashed, runs well on a leash, and gets along with other dogs. People mean a lot to him – sometimes so much that he would rather have their attention all to himself. When other dogs want to come to "his" person, he eagerly steps in, because Paco only shares cuddles and affection unwillingly. Behind this behavior lies a likely past that was not always beautiful. In March, a man brought Paco to the animal shelter and initially claimed he had found him and could not keep him. It quickly became clear, however, that Paco must have been his own dog, as he knew surprisingly detailed information about him – including that Paco gets along well with children. Despite this, there are situations where Paco reacts a bit insecurely or "strangely," leading us to suspect that he may not have had good experiences. For Paco, we therefore wish for a quiet home without children, with people who understand dogs that sometimes need to learn to trust again. People who give him security, take his fine signals seriously, and show him that he no longer needs to defend himself to be seen. Whoever gives Paco this chance gets an attached, clever, and very people-oriented dog who simply wants to belong. Videos May 26:

Videos Mai 26:

About Paco

What life with Paco looks like

Paco is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
