Pączek

Mixed Breed · Male

Pączek and Bułeczka are a pair that ended up at the Łódź animal shelter after months of wandering near a supermarket. They came to us because they needed a lot of time and work to trust humans again. They have already experienced being chased away, thrown out, and probably many other cruelties. But they also know what human kindness is, because for a long time they were fed by kind people who still visit them in our center. At first, it was very hard with them. They hid behind buildings, avoided eye contact, and pretended they weren't there. However, after just a few days, they started exploring the area, sniffing all corners with curiosity. They immediately understood that walks are for taking care of their needs, and after the walk there is a reward - a bowl. They still stick together, never leaving each other's side, and when they see a bowl... they forget about everything. Then they jump into our arms, demanding attention. They really want to trust humans, and every day it's getting easier for them. Pączek is a very delicate puppy who needs a lot of warmth and love. Still distrustful at first contact, but we hope this will change very quickly. He feels best in Bułeczka's company, with whom he lived through the worst time of his life. We dream of a joint adoption for these dogs.

PL·Show original

Pączek i Bułeczka to para, która trafiła do łódzkiego schroniska po wielomiesięcznym koczowaniu pod hipermarketem. Trafiły do nas, bo potrzebowały dużo czasu i pracy, by na nowo zaufać człowiekowi.

About Pączek

What life with Pączek looks like

Pączek is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pączek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pączek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pączek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pączek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pączek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pączek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Niechciane i Zapomniane SOS Zwierząt (Łódź) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pączek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
