Pakin

Mixed Breed · Male

HOW Pakin came to the street will probably always remain a mystery. Whether he got lost, was abandoned, or slipped away somewhere ... we don't know. But we do know that Pakin is one of many dogs who might have found their family again if they had been microchipped and/or tattooed. But everything has been tried to find the owners of the cheerful dachshund - no one has ever missed him, and therefore he is now looking for a new career. Pakin was found in the middle of the city, where he walked among people as if it were completely natural. A couple discovered the friendly short leg and waited with him for the return of his people - but they never came. Since they didn't want to leave the lovable male dog behind, they brought him to the animal shelter of our friends. Pakin is about one and a half years old and already very balanced for his age and also (at least in the daily life of the shelter) doesn't show any pronounced dachshund head. He gets along with everything and everyone, remains calm in new situations and encounters, and it's no surprise that he has become a favorite of the volunteers who also like to take him on the rare walks. Pakin is a fundamentally cheerful character, so he suffers relatively little from being in the world of bars, but the winter is long if you only have such short fur, and the nights are lonely if you are as sociable as our little charmer. So, dear dachshund lovers - everything for the dachshund, everything for the club. Pakin can hardly wait to find out where his future dog bed is parked, which he would like to move into as soon as possible!

About Pakin

What life with Pakin looks like

Pakin is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pakin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pakin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pakin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pakin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pakin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pakin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pakin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
