Panda

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Little Panda is now 9 weeks of age and ready for her new home. This wonderful pup was found on the side of the road at 3-4 weeks of age, and we were lucky enough to place her with fosterers who could bottle-feed and nourish her well, and get stuck into early puppy training. As a result Panda is a very well-rounded little girl already. Don’t forget, she is a collie and will grow into a dog who needs and active, stimulating home, but her new owners will be starting from a great place with her. She is crate-trained and extremely clean overnight already. She is used to being around other dogs, she doesn’t pester or annoy them but loves to hang out, follow them around and learn from them. Panda loves toys and will keep herself entertained for hours with them. They will also be a useful training tool in her new home. Panda is fine to live with children or cats. The main thing for Panda is that she has a home where she in not left alone for longer than a couple of hours for these first months.

About Panda

What life with Panda looks like

Panda is a puppy mixed breed dog waiting at West Cork Animals in Cork.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Panda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Panda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. West Cork Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Panda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Panda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — West Cork Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Panda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Panda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with West Cork Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know Panda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
