Adopt Papaja

Female · Adult · 4 years

Looking for a smart, brave canine soul that will win your heart? Here she is - Papaja in person! Papaja has been through difficult times - she was evacuated in an emergency from the closed animal shelter in Radom, where she probably spent most of her short life. At first contact she can be cautious - she approaches slowly and sniffs to see who she's dealing with - but soon it turns out that she enjoys being with everyone! Papaja is sociable - she likes to be close to people, watches what we do, and when we rest, she happily joins us by snuggling into the blanket by our feet. She just as eagerly participates in social life on the run - she has the potential to be a leader, which impresses less confident dogs looking for direction. Papaja can relax stressed-out ones and bring untrained ones back into order. On walks she walks beautifully on a leash, likes meeting other dogs, pays attention, sniffs a lot, and is generally curious about everything that can be encountered on a walk. She has a moderate pace - sometimes she stops for a while, then quickly joins the group waiting for her. Here at the animal shelter she walks alone and is a guide for other dogs that are just discovering the forest trails. Papaja will best find her place in a quiet area. She is a female dog who enjoys spending time outdoors, so trips to a yard or private garden would be perfect! Papaja can live with another dog, as long as he likes strong and characterful female dogs ;)

Szukasz mądrej, dzielnej psiej istoty, który zawładnie Twym sercem? Oto ona - Papaja we własnej osobie! Papaja potrafi rozluźnić zestresowanych, a niewychowanych przywołać do porządku.

About Papaja

What life with Papaja looks like

Papaja is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Papaja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Papaja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Papaja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Papaja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Papaja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Papaja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Papaja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
