Paris &#8211

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

I am female, neutered, microchipped, and born around 2017. I am approximately 50cm tall. I have been waiting since October 2019 for a new home. My caretakers say about me: Paris is an adoption, with her shyness after adoption, the adoptants were overwhelmed. Requests so far have sadly fizzled out after a long wait or were not suitable for other reasons. Paris needs a few days to build some cautious trust, and much more time to really settle in. She is gentle and tends to retreat rather than be aggressive. Aggression has never been an issue with her. The focus is on winning her trust and acclimating her to all the environmental stimuli that can occur in a dog's life. Whoever earns her trust has a reliable partner by their side, her delicate nature always impresses. Yet, she remains a young dog who also likes to play and frolic in a safe place, and enjoys playing with fellow animals. She gets along wonderfully with them, so a chance for a life as a second dog is the variant we prefer. She can be introduced to other animals, but she tends to shy away from direct contact. She knows basic commands, and generally, a good bonding effort is worthwhile, giving Paris the feeling of security and not being left behind. She should be placed in experienced hands; training through good dog training classes would be necessary for beginners. Children with the right sensitivity are also no problem. Fundamentally, we prefer husbandry as a second dog. A house with a garden would be great, but is not a condition. A rural and quiet environment and living situation are also a priority for the sensitive female dog. Who can show the wondrous and gentle Paris how wonderful life in a family can be?

About Paris &#8211

What life with Paris &#8211 looks like

Paris &#8211 is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paris &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paris &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paris &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paris &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paris &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paris &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paris &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
