Pastora

Female · 3 years

Pastora was an old doggie from our our shelter. She was adopted almost instantly thanks to her charm and beauty. However, she has had some bad luck, and for reasons beyond her, she is back looking for a family with us, but don't think that stops her... she's still a 10! She's a super funny and very affectionate dog. She always follows us wherever we go, loves contact, and we melt for her. She loves being right next to us all the time, and follows us around like a good shepherd, loyal to those who care for and show her love and trust. Additionally, she paces incredibly well on a leash, is active, and loves to explore outside. She's very curious and stops to sniff everything, and it's clear in her eyes how happy she is when she's out of her cage, which feels so small to her. She also adores playing fetch and with other puppies, having the time of her life. She can't be more adorable! Moreover, she's very social and affectionate with other dogs. Currently, she cohabits with a big and shy puppy and is helping her to open up. When we pass by her cage, we often see them snuggled up or playing hide-and-seek. In short, Pastora is the perfect dog for any family looking for a balanced, loyal, and affectionate dog beyond measure.

About Pastora

What life with Pastora looks like

Pastora is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pastora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pastora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pastora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pastora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pastora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pastora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pastora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
